About the Project
My dog Max loves to model, so I’m always looking for ideas for his next photo shoot. With Thanksgiving just around the corner, I figured Max would make an adorable pilgrim at a Thanksgiving feast. I gathered up some household items to use as props and found a tiny pilgrim hat at a party supply store. I set up a Thanksgiving dinner place setting on my coffee table and used a tablecloth as the backdrop.
I thought I could shoot this portrait all in one go without any compositing. No matter how well trained Max might be, he can’t resist a tasty rotisserie chicken! (Can’t blame him!) So I shot him and the chicken separately and composited the two images using Photoshop.
I used these portraits on Thanksgiving greeting cards for family and friends.
