About the Project
My first attempt at a fluid simulation in Blender. The goal was to see how realistic I could make the water appear.
Fluid resolution: 650
Fluid bake: 596 GB | 11 days
Rendered in Eevee (17.5 hours)
Blender 2.81a
CPU: Intel Core i7
RAM: 32 GB
GPU: NVIDA GeForce RTX 2060
After baking the fluid sim, Blender would freeze trying to play back the animation, so I couldn’t even see my work until after rendering. I guess it was worth trying once to see what it would take to produce 30 seconds of somewhat realistic water. I’m sure settings could be tweaked to improve baking and rendering times. Next time it will have to be a genius idea and flawless execution to warrant tying up a computer for two weeks!
Lesson learned: Physics sims are calculated on the CPU, not the GPU!
